YAM PORRIDGE

Yam is another healthy food available in Africa, rich in carbohydrates. It can be cooked and enjoyed in various ways;fried, boiled, roasted and many more, today we’ll be sharing the yam porridge recipe, let’s dive in.

  1. Peel your yam,cut into desired size, wash thoroughly and put into pot. Add desired quantity of water, cover and then set on fire.
  2. Wash and slice your onions, grind your crayfish and peppers also,set aside.
  3. Check your yam, once it begins to boil,start adding all the ingredients, so as to allow all to cook well together.
  4. Add the sliced onions, followed by the ground crayfish and peppers.
  5. Add the palm oil, cover pot and allow to cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add your seasoning cubes, seasoning powder and salt to taste. Then cover pot and cook for 20 minutes till the yam is very much tender and soft.
  7. Taste your porridge,add more salt or seasoning if needed, turn the porridge well with 'turning garri' stick until the the liquid is thick in consistency
  8. Put off fire,serve alongside any drink of your choice. Enjoy.
